Lawyer Sues Delta $5 Million Dollars.

A New York City lawyer has decided to sue Delta Air Lines $5 Millions dollars because he says he was stranded in Paris for 4 days due to the carrier’s “incompetence and indifference.”  ”Thomas Mullaney, the lawyer, says Delta did not allow passengers to rebook their flights over the telephone and told passengers to go to the airport and rebook there. Mullaney says he paid $5,000 for the two round trip tickets, yet Delta would not reimburse him for the unused leg of his flight. Instead, Mullaney returned home on American Airlines. Mullaney says that Delta probably stranded thousands of other Delta passengers, and now seeks class action status for this lawsuit. Delta has not said anything about the litigation.

Thoughts: Delta should be able to rebook flights to all passengers, perhaps with an included fee (some airlines charge to rebook). Never should a passenger ever have to go to the airport to rebook a flight, hence the use of the telephone. Unfortunately, his itinerary most likely could not be modified over the internet, since most problems like this have to be dealt with by a employee of the airline who has access to booking and passenger service. Since there aren’t many details to the story, I can’t say who’s right and who’s wrong. Is Mullaney just trying to get $5 million dollars from a already money-bleeding company, or is it true?
