Compensation for US Airways Flight 1549 Passengers, Poll.

US Airways reimbursed each passenger for lost luggage and distress with $5,000 checks, made payable to each customer on the flight. The luggage, which remains with the NTSB, will probably remain with the agency for quite some time – an unknown number of months (for weight and balance checks). The airline also reimbursed passengers for the cost of their tickets. However, is $5,000 really enough for passengers?

Picture this: some airlines consider $3,000 as the normal. As a matter of fact, the Department of Transportation recently forced airlines to raise the cap on top-dollar payouts for lost luggage from $3,000 to $3,300. So, life-loss aside, US Airways has a very nice payout for losing your luggage. Yet, is $5,000 enough for nearly losing your life?  It’s your call. Vote in the poll below, and I’ll review the results on Friday.
