The saga continues – another loss. AirTran Holdings Inc., the company that owns AirTran Airways, reported a fourth quarter loss of $118.4 million, or $1 a share. This is a result of fuel hedges; what we’ve been hearing about all week, right? Notably, this is AirTran’s first annual loss since 1999; they almost made it to ten years!
AirTran has unleashed a massive amount of fare sales. Some question whether that will lure in customers during the recession. However, AirTran does see profit for the year of 2009; as most airlines should.
