American Airlines announced their plans to officially go “cashless.” For those unfamiliar with the cashless cabin, it basically means that credit cards will be the only form accepted payment for items like: snacks, special beverages, headsets, etc. The new policy will come into effect on Monday (6/1).
The cashless cabin is said to benefit everyone. The all credit card method of carrying out purchases on-board saves time for flight attendants and passengers. For those that do not have credit cards, I’ve heard that other passengers have been willing to help out each other while on-board. Not only is it quicker, but it’s more accurate and easier for the airline to calculate their revenue made on each flight – no more counting cash.
