US Airways introduced a new level of comfort with their new Envoy Suite. Not to get confused with their Envoy class, the suite offers many features that trans-atlantic passengers are looking for, including privacy, peace, and comfort. The Envoy suite will become available in December 2009, starting on A330-200 aircraft, and will also be available on A330-300s within a year or so.
Features include:
- A fully adjustable seat with lie-flat bed
- Direct aisle access from each Suite with all seats facing forward
- Generous personal space and stowage
- An easy-to-reach technology panel, including a 110-volt universal power outlet, satellite telephone and USB port
- State-of-the-art personal entertainment system with a 12.1” adjustable touch-screen
The seat is 20.5 inches in width and fully adjustable. As the seat is a lie flat-bed, the seat has a 180 degree angle of recline. The length of the seat is generally around 6’4″ – 6’8″, depending on the location of the seat.
The new entertainment system, made by Panasonic Avionics Corporation, incorporates a 12.1″ adjustable touch-screen monitor, allowing passengers to view hours of entertainment, or game with the person in 9B.
Additionally, the suite has a reading light, power outlet for laptops, a USB for charging portables, and a dual satellite telephone/entertainment controller.
This is great news from US Airways. Over the years, one thing that US Airways knows fairly well is first-class & business class. Among legacy carriers, I’d say their seats are among the top three in comfort.
